Gargouilles are a natural mystery: creatures both organic and mineral, and capable of powered flight. Uncerain yet how exactly they even exist, except for the obvious magical explanation. Among the best creatures adapted to live in civilized areas, they are known to be for the most part fish-eaters, as such they are often left alone by the folks that are able to recognize which species is which. There are, however, predatory Gargoyles, so they're seen as a potential threat to be smashed by most of the ignorant folks.
Gargoyles can actually be very beneficial to a humanoid community if they choose to stabilize themselves in an area. They would form a formidable guard coven, as they will ferociously attack any stranger they perceive as a threat to their territory, as such being a very effective defense.

Somehow, other than having a though skin (you could hit them with a hammer, they won't flinch) Gargs can Extend the mineral particles in their skin to cover up their whole bodies, effectively becoming statues. In this state, they can neither fly or even move, until they break free. And they actually have to break this shell and shed it as if it was an molting exoskeleton. The exact process is unknown, but it has been shown that Gargs do this when they sleep, so as to be totally safe. This tendency also has a surprising effect on the creatures: now, Gargs can be either diurnal or nocturnal, and the stone form seems to absorb energy from whatever main source is available, be it Sun or Moon, and when the Gargoyle breaks the shell, it'll be fully rested, recharged and even healed. It has been observed that while Gargouilles can repeat this process even when they should be 'active', doing it too often actually drains them rather than recharging.

ANother surprising feature to Gargs is their ability to store a decent amount of water taken from the places they fish at (they can use saltwater as well, using the salt crystals to add to their rocky shell, hence why coast-dwelling Gargs are shiny white and crystal-like) and use it for some time. It is supposed that is how they keep hydrated while in rock-form, though not certain. Upon need, they can expel this water in high propulsion at their target. Strange creatures, indeed.

I REGRET NOTHING!

Of course, the same rule said for Sirens also applies to Gargoyles: Tupandactylus is just one species, all other Pterosaur species represent other Gargoyles

I really have no idea where the heck they store the water they use, I'd suppose in some sort ot thirt stomach or even in their crests, dunno. I'll think about it.

The one that's sleeping looks like its about to get blasted off that cliff by the one that's spitting water!
